1. GAMMA
A numerical factor used in the television system to indicate how the light values are expanded or compressed. A gamma with a value of 1 (one)
indicates a linear characteristic. While a gamma with a value of less than 1 indicates that there is a compression in the level changes of the white components of the signal. It is the measure of the gray scale in a television picture.
2. GAMMA CORRECTION
The introduction of a nonlinear output-input characteristic for the purpose of changing the effective value of the gamma.
3. GANHO
A quantia de amplificação que um sistema fornece para um sinal. Ganhos são normalmente expressos em decibéis.
4. GEN-LOCK
A method used to synchronize one or more cameras by external means such as: composite video, composite sync, horizontal or vertical sync.
5. GEOMETRIC DISTORTION
Any aberration which causes the reproduced picture to be geometrically different to the perspective plane projection of the original scene.
6. GHOST
A shadowy or weak image in the received picture, offset either to the right or to the left of the primary image. It is the result of transmission conditions
where secondary signals are created and received earlier or later than the primary signal.
7. GLITCHES
A form of interference appearing as a narrow horizontal bar that is either stationary or moving vertically through the picture.
8. GRAY SCALE
A series of tones which range from true black to true white, it is usually expressed in 10 steps.
